Temporary Changes to Compost Park

During their January 11, 2021 meeting, the Board of Commissioners passed a motion to revert to the Compost Park's 2020 schedule of fees for the next two weeks.  Hours of operation during this time will be from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only.

Payment of fees will be cash only.  The issuance and use of the access cards is also suspended during this time, as is the issuance of any refunds.

The purpose of this temporary change is to allow Township staff and the Board of Commissioners to re-evaluate the Compost Park policies and procedures to best serve the residents and taxpayers of Manheim Township.

We thank you for your input, understanding and patience as we work to improve our services to you.

Acceptance of Grass Stopped Temporarily at Compost Park

Beginning August 3, 2020, Manheim Township will temporarily stop accepting grass at the Compost Park.  There is currently an overabundance of grass coming to the Park.  We have reached a point in time where we can no longer accept grass without negatively impacting the rows of compost currently stored onsite.  We will continue to monitor the breakdown of the compost to decide when we will be able to accept grass again at the Park.  We appreciate your understanding.

Hours: (weather dependent):

January 12 to March 31, Friday, Saturday & Sunday only - 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

The Compost Park is Manheim Township’s central composting facility, open to Manheim Township residents only. The composting park accepts garden residues, shrubbery and tree pruning, sod, leaves and grass for composting. Wood mulch and leaf compost are available for purchase for use in yard landscapes and gardens.
