The Compost Park is Manheim Township's central composting facility.  The composting park accepts garden residues, shrubbery and tree pruning, sod, leaves and grass for composting.  Wood mulch and leaf compost are available for purchase for use in yard landscapes and gardens.

Please reference the service and pricing guidelines below to assist you with your visit to our Compost Park:

Yard waste materials accepted at the site:
  • Garden residues, shrubbery and tree prunings, sod, leaves and grass

Yard waste disposal fees:

Bagged material: 
    $1.00 per 30-gallon container or biodegradable bag.

Loose material:
    Passenger cars/SUV's/station wagons
        Full load - $6.00
        Half full - $4.00
        Minimum rate - $3.00

    Pickup truck/trailer load rates:
        Full load - $10.00
        Half full - $6.00
        Minimum rate - $4.00

    Dump truck/box truck/1-ton pickups with sideboards:
        Any and all loads - $15.00 per vehicle, per load.  No minimum or reduced charge.

NOTICE - the Township will no longer be selling or providing free recyclable bags for leaves or general yard waste use.  Please see your local garden centers and similar retail outlets.  Only Township residents living on State highways, which do not receive free leaf pickup service, will be supplied recyclable bags for leaves.

Fall Leaf Pickup Program

  • Township residents receive free curbside leaf pickup from October 1st to November 30th.  Residents are encouraged to place their leaves at curbside or along their property in coordination with the Township leaf pickup schedule.  
  • Township residents may drop off leaves at the Compost Park for free during the Fall Leaf Pickup Program.

 Materials available for purchase:

  • Wood mulch is available for free while supplies last.
  • Leaf compost available during April and September at $2.00 per 5-gallon container.  No truck or trailer loads are permitted.

Resident Discount Program at the Compost Park

The Township is now offering a discount pre-paid punch card program for Compost Park users.  The punch cards are now available to Manheim Township residents only and are valid for two years from the date of issuance.  Cards are available for purchase at the Township Municipal Office, located at 1840 Municipal Drive.  Proof of residency is required at the time of purchase and the Township is not responsible for lost or stolen cards.  Pre-paid punch cards are available for $7.50 a card and are equal to ten 30-gallon containers or biodegradable bags of yard waste ($.75 each container/bag).

Holiday Tree Drop Off

Holiday trees will be accepted at the Compost Park free of charge until January 31st.  Trees dropped off between February 2nd and March 31st will be accepted for a fee of $1.00.  Township residents may use their Resident Discount Program punch cards for tree disposal (each holiday tree is equal to one (1) punch). 

Compost Park Hours

December 19th through March 31st - open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, excluding Christmas Day and New Year's Day  - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

April 1st through May 31st - open every day, excluding Easter Sunday, Memorial Day Holiday - 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

June 1st through August 31st - open every day, excluding July 4th Holiday - 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

September 1st through October 31st - open every day, excluding Labor Day Holiday - 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

November 1st through November 30th - open every day, excluding Thanksgiving Day - 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

December 1st through December 18th - open every day - 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Last vehicle to enter the Park is 10 minutes before closing.
