On May 2, 2011, PPL Electric Utilities, Inc. will begin moving forward with a project to update and improve street lighting in portions of the Grandview Heights neighborhood area.
The project will involve retrofitting outdated and inefficient lighting technologies found inside the street lighting fixtures in the neighborhood. While the outside “look” and “character” of the street light standards will remain exactly the same, the inside electrical components will be upgraded from Mercury Vapor and Incandescent lighting to High Pressure Sodium lighting. The work will result in more environmentally friendly lighting that meets new federal standards and provide more reliability and energy efficiency.
PPL, Inc. is planning on using IB Able as its contractor during the project. Because the project involves replacing the internal components of the light fixtures, no tree removal or major wiring work is anticipated and the project should present very little disruption to your regular activities.
Examples of the lighting being installed is currently visible at the entry drive (Granite Run Drive) to the Overlook Community Campus.
