Home Occupation Information

As part of the Township’s effort to prepare the current Township Comprehensive Plan, the Manheim Township Commissioners circulated a Planning Survey to all Township residents.  The survey, conducted in 1992, had one question that solicited input regarding the possibility of permitting home occupations within residentially zoned areas of the Township.  In addition, the question suggested types of controls that could be placed on the home occupations.  Some of the possible controls included amount of traffic generated, types of businesses permitted, availability of parking, and number of employees.  In 1994, based on the positive response to this question, the Commissioners adopted an amendment to the Township Zoning Ordinance to permit and regulate home occupations.
