In a February 27, 2019 Lancaster Newspapers article, Manheim Township was listed as the 7th safest city in Pennsylvania, based off a study performed by Safehome.org. The study, whose results can be found here, used data obtained in 2018 to compile a list of criteria to determine the ranking. This criteria included: population, number of violent crimes, property crimes, citizen-to-officer ratio, violent crime trend, and property crime trend. With a population just over 39,000, Manheim Township only recorded 24 violent crimes, which greatly contributed to the high placing on the list. "One of the goals of the police department is keeping our community safe. Our officers do a great job doing that on a daily basis," said Chief Thomas Rudzinski.
