The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today postponed a paving operation originally scheduled to begin Sunday night, October 13, on Hunsecker Road and rescheduled work to begin Thursday, October 17, at the earliest. Additionally, its contractor is considering paving during daylight hours due to recent cool overnight temperatures. Variable message boards will be in place to inform travelers of any further schedule changes. From October 17-31, weather permitting, the contractor will close the narrow sections of Hunsecker Road, on either side of the Hunsecker covered bridge, and a short section of Snakehill Road in Upper Leacock Township to begin paving. Residents will be permitted to access their properties while each section of roadway is closed for a few days. PennDOT also advises travelers that on Butter Road near the U.S. 222 interchange and on a short section of Jake Landis Road under U.S. 222 in Manheim Township they may encounter single-lane restrictions with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone during paving operations in October.
