LANCASTER, Penna. (Jan. 6, 2021) – The Manheim Township Board of Commissioners (BOC) has appointed Benjamin Marchant to serve as interim Township Manager, effective immediately. The unanimous appointment was made at a special meeting held on Dec. 28, 2020.
“We are pleased to welcome Ben Marchant as our full-time interim township manager,” said Sam Mecum, president of the Manheim Township Board of Commissioners. “Ben understands municipal government and has a background in it.”
Marchant has 20 years of experience in local government and 12 years of experience serving as a municipal manager, most recently for Springettsbury Township in York County. In that capacity, he oversaw a $31 million operating budget and 101 employees in seven departments.
The Manheim Township Manager leads daily operations of all municipal department in the township including police, fire and emergency management services (EMS), public works, code enforcement, planning and zoning, finance, parks, recreation and library services.
Mecum said the Board is continuing its search for a permanent candidate, and has retained Keystone Municipal Solutions to assist in recruiting, screening, and interviewing candidates to fill the full-time township manager position.
