[ARCHIVED] Join Us This Saturday - Stream Restoration and Basin Retrofit Tour!

Manheim Township to Host Stream Restoration Tour This Saturday

LANCASTER, Penna. (June 3rd, 2021) – On June 5th, 2021, Manheim Township representatives will host a stream restoration and basin retrofit tour that will showcase Jaycee Park at 9 am, Stoner Park at 11 am, and Overlook Park at 1 pm. The guided tour is free of charge to 100 participants per site.

The tour is intended to educate and inform the community of the importance of these environmental projects, and their impact on the local environment and the Chesapeake Bay.

“These drop-in public tours to be offered by Land Studies are for families. You can attend all three or just visit one park,” said Manheim Township Commissioner Carol Gifford. “You can find out more about these stream projects and how they impact stormwater management and help make our water clean. These are the kind of projects we expect to continue. Come with your questions and find out how you can be a part of future projects.”

To sign up for the tour, interested parties can contact Wendy Dettrey at 717-569-6404 x 1129 to reserve their spot. Water and a snack will be provided by the Commissioner’s Office. This is a rain or shine event.

In addition to these projects completed at Jaycee Park, Stoner Park and Overlook Park, new stream restoration projects are underway and upcoming at Wetherburn Stream, Pleasure Road Stream and Stonehenge Linear Park Stream.

Advising the Board of Commissioners, the Manheim Township Sustainability Advisor Committee is welcoming local public feedback. Members of the committee have presented a short survey to gather more information on what residents think about local sustainability efforts. The survey can be found on Manheim Township’s website at https://bit.ly/MTsurvey-Sustainability
