[ARCHIVED] Proposed Ordinance 2022-08 - Amend Police Pensions (DROP)

LEGAL NOTICE

 Notice is hereby given that at the regularly scheduled public meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Manheim Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to be held on Monday, May 9, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at the Morgan Center, Manheim Township Public Library, 595 Granite Run Drive, Lancaster, Pennsylvania the Board will consider for enactment proposed Ordinance 2022-08 the full title is as follows:  ORDINANCE NO. 2022-08.   AN ORDINANCE OF MANHEIM TOWNSHIP LANCASTER COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA AMENDING THE TOWNSHIP CODE GOVERNING POLICE PENSIONS TO INCLUDE AN ACT 44 RETIREMENT PROGRAM.  A brief summary of the proposed ordinance setting forth the provisions in reasonable detail are set forth below.   Section 1 amends the Township’s Police Pension Plan by adding a new section that implements an Act 44 Retirement Program (“Program”).  Section 1 includes a title, definitions, eligibility criteria, procedures for eligible officers to participate,  benefit calculations and the accumulation of benefits and non-pension benefits.  It also includes provisions governing the payout upon separation, participation during a service-connected disability, benefits upon death, forfeiture of benefits, the cost of management for the Program, amendments to the Program, construal of the provisions of the Program and a severability section.  The ordinance makes the provisions effective as of February 8, 2022. The proposed ordinance includes a repealer and severability provisions as well as an effective date provision.  A complete copy of Ordinance No. 2022-08 as proposed together with any related exhibits are available for public inspection and may be examined by any citizen in the office of the Township Secretary 1840 Municipal Drive, Lancaster, Pennsylvania on regular business days between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. A copy of the Ordinance may be examined without charge at the offices of this newspaper (LNP) and at the Lancaster County Law Library located at 50 N. Duke Street, Lancaster, PA 17602.  The public may participate in the meeting either in-person or virtually.  Instructions for participating virtually are posted on the Township’s website (www.manheimtownship.org). The public may contact the Township during regular business hours with any questions.
