[ARCHIVED] Volunteers Needed for Two Local Events Tomorrow!

Stoner Park Clean-Up Event

There are two opportunities to get involved and volunteer this weekend!

The Manheim Township Sustainability Committee is hosting a clean-up event within Stoner Park along Landis Run, an impaired stream that is part of the Lower Conestoga River Watershed. This event is occurring on Saturday, April 15th from 10 am-12 pm. There is no scheduled rain date.

We welcome volunteers of all ages, though all minors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please contact Ryan Dodson to sign up or ask questions at ryandodson17601@gmail.com or 717.475.0195.

Volunteers will meet at the Northbrook Drive entrance to Stoner Park. There are limited parking spots, so if you park in the neighborhood, please be careful not to block mailboxes, driveways, etc.

Please be aware that we will be traversing soggy, uneven terrain in dense thickets of foliage, so remember to bring your water bottle, wear closed-toed shoes and long pants, and anticipate crawling through heavy brush, possible contact with ticks, poison ivy, and getting wet.  Thank you for volunteering!

Also, the good folks at Stroud Water Research Center are looking for volunteers at the Overlook Pollinator Garden tomorrow between 9 am - 11 am. Join them at the parking lot at Stoner Grille (605 Granite Run Drive).

They will be mulching the pollinator beds, cutting back dead stems, labeling plants, and cutting back invasive vines and small shrubs. If you enjoy gardening, this is right up your alley! All are welcome to attend and participate.
