Manheim Township will celebrate Halloween and "Trick or Treat" night at the regular scheduled date of Wednesday, October 31, 2012 from 6PM to 8PM.
The date for celebrating Halloween is set in the same manner each year. In 1992, the Lancaster Inter-Municipal Committee (LIMC) encouraged municipalities throughout Lancaster County to observe “Trick-or-Treat Night” on the same date. The LIMC recommended a policy that trick-or-treating be set between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Halloween (October 31), except when Halloween falls on a Saturday or Sunday, in which case the date celebrated would be the Friday prior the weekend date. The officials of each municipality agreed by resolution to follow this policy. Manheim Township has also conformed to this scheduling every year since the policy was adopted. Initially, twenty-three municipalities notified LIMC and agreed to the policy and the uniform observance that first year. Since its inception, now all sixty municipalities in Lancaster County have held trick-or-treating at the same time in accordance with the scheduling formula.
