Manheim Township is pleased to announce the creation of its first Assistant Fire Chief of EMS, a senior-level leadership position established under the full authority, oversight, and funding of the Manheim Township municipal government.
This historic position reflects the continued growth and evolution of Manheim Township Fire Rescue (MTFR) and the Township’s strategic expansion of its core public safety mission to include municipally governed Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The role underscores the Township’s commitment to providing professionally managed, accountable, and sustainable emergency services to its residents.
As a fully funded municipal position, the Assistant Fire Chief of EMS will operate within the Township’s established governance structure, ensuring direct accountability, operational consistency, and alignment with municipal policies and community priorities. The position will provide senior-level leadership for Fire and EMS operations, supporting the integration, oversight, and long-term development of EMS services as a core municipal function.

The Assistant Fire Chief of EMS will play a key role in strategic planning, operational readiness, personnel leadership, and interagency coordination, helping guide MTFR through its next phase of growth while maintaining the Township’s high standards of public safety.

Manheim Township Fire Rescue (MTFR) is the Township’s cooperative fire and emergency services response system comprised of four fire rescue stations providing a wide range of services including, emergency preparedness, education, prevention, and response. Covering over 25 square miles with a dedicated and talented workforce of more than 80 career and 30 volunteer members, MTFR is committed to being an evolving extension of our diverse community.
MTFR is led by a professional executive team consisting of a Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Marshal, Fleet Mechanic, 5 Shift Captains, 4 Lieutenants, and an Administrative Assistant.
The MTFR system is responsible for coordinating and providing an efficient and effective delivery of fire, medical, rescue, and life safety emergency services within the Township limits and under mutual aid to areas in need. Emergency services are delivered from three strategically located fire stations in the Township. MTFR also strives to improve the quality of life for Township residents by providing public education, select code enforcement, and ongoing training for firefighters.
