Rental Housing Program
Program Overview
Beginning in 2022, Manheim Township will begin to license rental properties. Each Residential Housing License shall have an annual term and each regulated rental unit shall be subject to a minimum of at least one inspection every five (5) years, based upon a schedule established by the Department of Code Compliance. More frequent inspections of rental unit(s) may be performed and completed if conditions and violations warrant a different inspection frequency, or for any other reasonable just cause.
We will provide a matrix for inspections to property owners as the program is launched.
Highlights of the Rental Housing Program are as follows:
- Rental Licenses will be issued per building/structure.
- Annual Rental License Fees shall be $50.00 per license.
- Rental Housing Applications are due by April 1st each year.
- Property owners that live more than 25 miles from Manheim Township shall designate a Responsible Local Agent that will be the contact person for rental housing licensing and inspection coordination.
- An inspection cycle will be established for rental units.
- Complexes or properties with multiple buildings/structures will have staggered inspections with an equal number of buildings/structures being inspected.
- Multi-unit buildings will only have a portion of rental units inspected. Review the Baseline Inspection table below.
